Where Creative Kids Belong
Some kids run to the soccer field.
Ours run to the art table.
Arty Critters is for creative kiddos who love to imagine, build, and express themselves. If that sounds like your child — you’ve found your people.
What We Do:
Weekly classes with individual & themed mixed-media projects
What They Learn:
Art techniques, creative planning, layering, and self-expression
Our Philosophy:
Art is a process. Kids need time, space, and support to grow creatively.
After-school Art Club
6-8 Weeks Session
Meet once a week
1.5-hour class
Artist Ages 6-12
Each session is built around a fun, engaging theme. Kids will create one large mixed-media artwork across multiple classes, along with two to four individual projects.
They’ll explore a wide range of materials such as watercolor, pastels, acrylics, clay, collage, fiber arts, and more. Along the way, they’ll learn how to plan, layer, and build their artwork while experimenting with new tools and techniques.
Every project begins with a story, an artwork, an inspiring image, or a meaningful topic to spark curiosity. Using prompts from the Artful Thinking approach, we guide kids to slow down, look closely, and share what they see, think, and wonder. These thoughtful conversations encourage self-expression and help children develop their own artistic voice.
Benefit of Multiweek Mixed-Media Projects
Spending several weeks on a single artwork teaches students important artistic habits and life skills:
-
Patience and perseverance — they learn that great work takes time
-
Focus and attention to detail — adding layers thoughtfully builds stronger results
-
Planning and sequencing — understanding how to build an artwork step by step
-
Creative problem-solving — experimenting with materials and making revisions
-
Pride and confidence — students are amazed at what they can accomplish when they stick with something
These extended projects encourage deeper learning and give kids the space to reflect, refine, and truly express themselves.

“My 7 yr old is loving the art classes. She's asking when she can go again. I love that children get to experience different types of painting. Highly recommend Arty Critters!"

My daughter had the best time at Arty Critters! Mrs. Brown and her daughter Lili are amazing with the kids in their class. All the classes are so unique we had trouble picking which one to start with, but chose Squishmallow class. It was adorable and fun. My daughter is hooked on art now and it’s so fun to have a local (to us) option for her to pursue this hobby. And my kitchen stays clean ;) we are planning to sign up for the after school program!

My daughter who is 8 1/2 absolutely loved her Squishmallow workshop! She was very happy and proud of the projects she got to work on that day. Wonderful instructor and her assistant!

Not only is this place creative, clean, safe, and fun but the best part is the instructor. She was so kind and accommodating to my anxious kiddo. Came home with some special art.
