Where Creative Kids Belong

Some kids run to the soccer field.
Ours run to the art table.
Arty Critters is for creative kiddos who love to imagine, build, and express themselves. If that sounds like your child — you’ve found your people!

We all share a dream for our children: to see them become imaginative, innovative thinkers who are emotionally balanced and proud of who they are. At Arty Critters, our Art Club is a dedicated space to build these foundational life skills through the joy of creation.

How Our Art Club Runs

Our sessions are a thoughtful mix of one-week "spark" projects and multi-week deep dives, giving children the time they need to experiment and create with confidence.

  • Inspired Beginnings: Every class starts with a story, an inspiring artist, or a curious object to spark conversation.

  • Artful Thinking: We use the Artful Thinking approach to help kids slow down, look closely, and develop their own unique artistic voice.

  • Diverse Mediums: Students explore a wide range of materials, including watercolor, acrylics, oil and soft pastels, Chinese ink wash, fiber arts, collages, printmaking, air-dry clay, paper-mache, mixed media, and seasonal craft projects.

  • Creative Independence: We honor each child’s vision. There are no "wrong" ideas, and we never "fix" or alter a child’s artwork—their decisions remain at the heart of the piece.

The 8 Pillars of Growth

Through this process, children develop:

  • Self-Esteem: Building deep confidence through process over perfection.

  • Connection: Creating community with peers and the world.

  • Innovation: Practicing the problem-solving skills needed for the next generation.

  • Emotional Balance: Learning to regulate and tell their story without words.

  • Culture: Gaining empathy and awareness of our diverse world.

  • Feeling Seen: Being recognized for who they truly are.

  • Perseverance: Experiencing the pride of finishing a long-term project.

  • Pure Joy: Embracing the messy, colorful fun of being a kid!

Why Art is Important for Children, Really?

Kristina N.

Kyla’s art class is AMAZING! Our daughter has been in them since last year and loves her time each week!

Kyla goes so far beyond what I’d expected from an art group, she is thorough in every detail of what students are doing and teaches such a range of mediums that we never would have explored.

She has been thoughtful and communicative and it’s so clear that she loves what she does!

If you’re considering it, I highly recommend her class!

My daughter had the best time at Arty Critters! Mrs. Brown and her daughter Lili are amazing with the kids in their class.

All the classes are so unique we had trouble picking which one to start with, but chose Squishmallow class. It was adorable and fun.

My daughter is hooked on art now and it’s so fun to have a local (to us) option for her to pursue this hobby. And my kitchen stays clean ;) we are planning to sign up for the after school program!

Arty Critters have been a wonderful after school experience for my 9 yo. Ms. Brown teaches them real techniques (painting, multimedia, and felt needling) in a way that still feels fun.

My kiddo comes home beaming with pride, showing off her creations.

Highly recommend for any child who loves to create!

We’ve had such a wonderful experience with this art class. The instructor is patient, encouraging, and truly gifted at helping kids feel confident in their creativity. My daughter looks forward to every class and comes home excited to show off what she’s made and explain the techniques she learned.

What really stands out is how each child’s individuality is celebrated — there’s guidance and structure, but also plenty of freedom for self-expression. The environment is positive, welcoming, and inspiring, and it’s clear how much thought and care goes into each lesson.

We’re so grateful to have found it and would highly recommend it to any parent looking for a nurturing and fun art experience for their child.
