Fall 2 Theme: Sweater Weather Skyscraper 6 weeks session Tuesdays, 5:00-6:30PM - November 5, 12, 19 - December 3, 10, 17 !!! No class on Thanksgiving week, and Winter Break weeks In the late fall session, your child will bring a vibrant city scene to life through a mixed-media masterpiece built over four weeks. They’ll explore urban landscapes, the architecture of skyscrapers by drawing, painting, and layering collage materials like newspaper, tissue paper, acrylic paint, and paint markers. Kids will choose the season and design their own skyscrapers, parks, and playful details for their own cityscape. The rest of the session features individual projects inspired by stories, artists, art styles, or social topics. These may include drawing, painting, clay, and other creative media. 🎨After-School Art Club Structure: Each session is built around a fun, engaging theme and runs over several weeks. Kids will create one large mixed-media artwork across multiple classes, along with two to four individual projects. They’ll explore a wide range of materials such as watercolor, pastels, acrylics, clay, collage, fiber arts, and more. Along the way, they’ll learn how to plan, layer, and build their artwork while experimenting with new tools and techniques. Every project begins with a story, an artwork, an inspiring image, or a meaningful topic to spark curiosity. Using prompts from the Artful Thinking approach, we guide kids to slow down, look closely, and share what they see, think, and wonder. These thoughtful conversations encourage self-expression and help children develop their own artistic voice. ✔ Benefit of Multiweek Mixed-Media Projects Spending several weeks on a single artwork teaches students important artistic habits and life skills: • Patience and perseverance — they learn that great work takes time • Focus and attention to detail — adding layers thoughtfully builds stronger results • Planning and sequencing — understanding how to build an artwork step by step • Creative problem-solving — experimenting with materials and making revisions • Pride and confidence — students are amazed at what they can accomplish when they stick with something.
